The Haw Creek valley is known as one of the most bear-visited neighborhoods in Asheville.

Join HCCA at the library on Wednesday, June 24 at 6:30 pm as we host a program on how to peacefully coexist with our neighbor bears, both at home and outdoors. This BearWise program will be presented by Ashley Hobbs, Special Projects Biologist with the North Carolina Wildlife Resources Commission.

Join us to find out what you can do to protect yourself and the bears that inhabit our Haw Creek neighborhood. Please register if you plan to attend. Thank you!

Haw Creek Community Potluck (07/26/2026)

You are cordially invited to join us for a potluck dinner on Sunday evening, July 26 at Groce United Methodist Church. This event is inspired by the sense of community that many of us experienced in the aftermath of Helene. We gathered to share supplies and food and stories, and in the process sometimes came to know our neighbors better than we had previously. However, once our power and water came back online that feeling inevitably faded.

To keep that spark of community alive, the Haw Creek Community Association has hosted several potluck dinners this year. We decided to make this a regular event based on the terrific participation and positive responses we've gotten.

Every resident of Haw Creek is invited to join us for this free community dinner. Doors will open at 5:30 pm and dinner will begin at 6:00 pm. Please bring a dish to share; water and tea will be provided by HCCA.

We will not be keeping track of who is bringing what food, but please RSVP with the number of people you will be bringing so we will have some idea of how many plates and cups we will need to provide.

We look forward to this evening of sharing.
