Community Chili Cook Off (11/01/2026)

HCCA is sponsoring our third annual Chili Cook Off contest on Sunday, November 1 at 6 pm. You are invited to participate in one of two ways: As a chef entering your own homemade chili or as a judge to help select the winning entries.

There will be Chili's Restaurant gift cards for first ($40), second ($20) and third ($10) place winners, based on the favorites selected by the tasting judges, along with other prizes. Event registration is requested (select Chef or Tasting Judge).

Entry is free! We will be accepting donations and selling baked goods so don't forget to bring a little cash with you.

There's no better way to spend a fall evening than eating homemade chili with your neighbors!

Join the Haw Creek Community Association for our next community meeting on Tuesday, November 10 at 7:00 pm at the East Asheville Public Library.

This is your chance to catch up on what’s happening in our neighborhood, meet community leaders, hear what’s coming next, and connect with fellow Haw Creek neighbors.

Reducing Fire Risk
EcoForesters will share practical information and ideas for making our homes and neighborhood more resilient to wildfire.

Meet Our New Community Response Officer
We’ll introduce Justin Lewis, our new Community Response Officer, and give you an opportunity to get to know him.

Brandon Bryant will join us to share the current plans for the development at 767 New Haw Creek Road.

Program and Event Updates

Hear from HCCA President Michelle Decker about new program ideas and events, including the Care Bears project and a Silent Auction Gala.

Dessert and Conversation
We’ll wrap up the evening with a dessert social—a chance to keep the conversation going, meet new neighbors, and enjoy some treats together.

RSVPs are appreciated to help us get a sense of attendance, but they are not required. Come join us, bring your questions, and be part of the conversation about our community.

Haw Creek Community Potluck (11/22/2026)

You are cordially invited to join us for a potluck dinner on Sunday evening, 6-8 pm, November 22 at Groce United Methodist Church. This event is inspired by the sense of community that many of us experienced in the aftermath of Helene. We gathered to share supplies and food and stories, and in the process sometimes came to know our neighbors better than we had previously. However, once our power and water came back online that feeling inevitably faded.

To keep that spark of community alive, the Haw Creek Community Association has hosted several potluck dinners this year. We decided to make this a regular event based on the terrific participation and positive responses we've gotten.

Every resident of Haw Creek is invited to join us for this free community dinner. Doors will open at 5:30 pm and dinner will begin at 6:00 pm. Please bring a dish to share; water and tea will be provided by HCCA.

We will not be keeping track of who is bringing what food, but please RSVP with the number of people you will be bringing so we will have some idea of how many plates and cups we will need to provide.

We look forward to this evening of sharing.
