Committees
We have established a number of committees in order to organize our work and increase our effectiveness. Led by board volunteers, projects range from short-term activities to long-range initiatives.

Clean & Green Committee
Works to improve environmental conditions in Haw Creek and enhance the neighborhood's natural beauty.
Key Projects and Initiatives:
- Conduct regular litter cleanups and neighborhood beautification efforts.
- Help maintain Haw Creek Park and Masters Park.
- Remove invasive plants and promote native landscaping.
- Monitor Haw Creek water quality to protect local ecosystems.
- Promote plastic reduction initiatives and storm drain adoption for community stewardship.
- Coordinate with the Public Works Department and DOT to report and resolve environmental and infrastructure issues.

Events Committee
Works to foster community connections through educational programs, social events, and other activities.
Key Projects and Activities:
- Host community events such as potlucks, yard sales, local hikes, chili cook-offs, holiday cookie exchanges, and the Haw Creek Hustle 5K race.
- Organize educational and civic programs, including gardening workshops, candidates’ forums, and BearWise presentations

Safety & Resilience Committee
Works to enhance safety and strengthen community resilience (emergency preparedness) for all Haw Creek residents.
Key Projects and Initiatives:
- Increase wildfire awareness through the Firewise Community Program and pursue official recognition as a Firewise USA® community.
- Launch and coordinate a volunteer program to help neighbors address fire preparedness, safety concerns, and related community needs.
- Promote pedestrian safety along Haw Creek’s primary roadways.
- Work with the city on the New Haw Creek Road sidewalk extension.
- Identify and report road signs obstructed by vegetation to improve visibility and safety.

Open Space Preservation Committee
Works to protect undeveloped land for conservation and public benefit.
Key Projects and Initiatives:
- Monitor development projects within Haw Creek and recommend appropriate conservation actions.
- Identify large, accessible tracts of undeveloped land suitable for parks or public use, with minimal modifications required.
- Engage and communicate with landowners to explore conservation opportunities.
- Pursue new conservation initiatives and land protection efforts.
- Support the development of greenways where opportunities exist.

Works to promote and coordinate communications and membership initiatives.

- Maintain and manage the subscriber database.
- Provide membership services.
- Update and enhance website content and functionality.
- Expand social media presence.
