The Haw Creek valley is known as one of the most bear-visited neighborhoods in Asheville. Join HCCA at the library on Tuesday, June 13 at 7:00 pm as we host a program on how to peacefully coexist with our neighbor bears, both at home and outdoors. This BearWise program will be presented by Ashley Hobbs, Special Projects Biologist with the North Carolina Wildlife Resources Commission. There will be educational items on display, along with some fun giveaways.

In addition, we will be holding a raffle to win an adorable bear puppet. This beautiful bear, 24" long, is handmade by a local craftswoman and is perfect for playing and snuggling with your child or grandchild. Raffle tickets are just $5 (cash please) and will only be sold at the BearWise program, so your chances of winning are good. Proceeds support the Haw Creek Community Association.

Join us to find out what you can do to protect yourself and the bears that inhabit our Haw Creek neighborhood. You might get lucky and take home a bear who won't raid your bird feeder or tip your garbage can over!

Please register if you plan to attend. Thank you!
