Interested in exploring parts of the Haw Creek valley very few people have seen? Looking for some exercise but need a break from the gym or the Masters Park hike? Come join us for a moderate to strenuous hike on some of the many old logging roads that were created when Haw Creek was logged in the middle of the last century but that have gone mostly unused ever since (the photo shows a bridge we will be crossing). We’ll also be hiking the segment of the Mountains-to-Sea Trail that passes the Haw Creek Valley Overlook.
This approximatley 3 hour hike will be led by long-time Haw Creek resident Rick Fornoff. Participants will need to be in reasonably good shape, have a sense of adventure, and should bring their own water bottles and snacks. Please dress appropriately. As this is a winter hike, prepare to hike in light rain or cold temperatures.
Participation is limited to 12. This event is free but you must register so that we can contact you. In the event the weather takes a turn for the worse, we will send an email by 9:00 pm Friday evening postponing the hike.
